Maple Leafs beat the Jets 7-2 in first day of Regular Season

Maple Leafs offence was good from the get go.

Newcomer Marleau had himself a goodnight showing signs that he still got it with 2 goals, one of them was a nice tap pass from new line mate Auston Matthews.

Auston Matthews also had a goodnight scoring one goal and assisting on 2 goals.

Frederik Andersen was phenomenal in net for the blue and white stopping 35 of the possible 37 shots the Jets threw at him and stopped 17 shots in the opening frame.

For The Jets, it wasn’t a great game as they let in 7 goals on only 31 shots.

They were 0-8 on the power play and couldn’t capitalize on the chance leafs gave them and they weren’t pretty good on face off in the 2nd half of the game.

They need to make a decision on the goalies because I feel Hellebuyck is a better goalie than mason as mason as shown signs of inconsistency over the years with the Blue Jackets and Flyers.

Next game for Toronto: Saturday at home against the New York Rangers

Next game for Winnipeg: Saturday on the road against Calgary Flames
